    Two-Minute Takeaways

    The Divine Mother

Two-Minute Takeaways from The Urantia Book

The Son and the Spirit now preside over the universe much as a father and mother watch over, and minister to, their family of sons and daughters. (33:3.7)

Christians know her as Holy Spirit. Many other religious traditions have similar concepts. She is a full partner in creating our universe. She is our Divine Mother.

Our Mother Spirit breathes life into us. She leads us along our individual spiritual paths by giving us our minds, educating us through the work of her angels, and guiding us in our daily lives.

Our Divine Mother Gives Us Mind

She is our link to the intelligence that pervades the universe. Our brains are vessels into which our Divine Mother pours mind, gifting us intuition and understanding, knowledge and wisdom. Thanks to her, we become aware of ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

Operating through our brains, this gift of mind enables us to interact with the world and contribute to our own growth and development. We can recognize people, things, and events in our environment. We integrate each new experience into what we have already learned. Our minds actually give us the courage to explore the unknown and accumulate knowledge of our physical world. They enable us to connect with other people and cooperate with them.

Our Divine Mother’s Angels Teach Us

Our Universe Mother Spirit creates the angels who are our unseen spirit companions in this earthly life and on our universe journey. They foster God’s plan to teach us through life’s experiences how to make choices that are more and more unselfish and caring. Working from within our minds, angels help us by:

    • making us more aware of the divine presence within
    • urging us to pray
    • guiding us into new and challenging experiences

These challenges and opportunities are intended to help us grow spiritually. Don’t expect them to make life easier.

Of course, it is up to us whether or not to follow their guidance. Under no circumstances do angels interfere with your free will.

Our Mother’s Holy Spirit Guides Us

The Holy Spirit is our Divine Mother’s presence within us and throughout the universe. As we face the challenges of everyday life, the Holy Spirit provides personal guidance and wisdom. The Holy Spirit’s great goal is to spiritualize our inner lives. We come to realize that something or someone higher than anything we can sense physically pervades all reality.

The Holy Spirit leads us to make better and better choices. If we are willing to grow, she helps us begin to see from a more spiritual point of view. Through her Holy Spirit, our Mother enables us to recognize and desire higher ideals that are the foundation of a meaningful life. She can empower us to live out those higher ideals and embrace the adventure of spiritual progress unafraid.

We Can Cooperate with Our Divine Mother

Our Mother constantly provides her guidance for us in our everyday lives. Our progress is dependent on our willingness to follow her wisdom. We can cooperate with her by developing mental habits such as:

    • Being aware that all problems and challenges are meaningful opportunities to learn, often from our own mistakes.
    • Striving to welcome these challenges, even if they are painful.
    • Recognizing that even the smallest of choices can contribute to important habits of thought and action.
    • Appreciating our angels’ work as they lead us into situations that demand moral and ethical decisions and cooperating with them by making even the tough choices.
    • Asking for her guidance.
    • Having faith that we will be helped.

Our Divine Mother Blesses Us Daily

What a blessing it is to realize that we have constant help with everyday life! We can feel reassured by her maternal love, her patience, and her delight in us. We can better accept ourselves the way she accepts us—as mere beginners on this long, spiritual journey through the universe.

The divine Spirit is the source of continual ministry and encouragement to the children of men. (34:6.5)
